The Yak was host to another quality performance by Mark O'Meara last night. Audience numbers were up again, the recording "Shambolic" able to introduce a wider number of people to this talented folk singer than the live gig circuit.

Mark showed definitively that his time in the studio hadn't blunted his creative edge. Through a short set he bantered with the crowd, deftly dealt with equipment problems and pulled out a few crowd pleasers.

Although rumours have been heard of a new album there was no new material introduced last night. It may be trialled in one of his less regular "anonymous" gigs rather than in his musical home. Some of the songs played last night date back to Mark's early days in folk, however his fresh interpretation brought something new to each of the pieces he played.

Once again backed by Joanna Forbes, settling well into a regular gig and developing proportions reminiscent of all good gospel singers, Mark pleased and entertained the crowd. It's always a pleasure to see this generous performer back at the Yak.
